Padma Shri Michel Postel (circa 1926 – 2024)
Padma Shri Michel Postel founded Franco-Indian Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. in 1949 with a simple yet uncompromising mission in mind - to give people the access to quality healthcare in India.
Mr. Paul Postel, father of Michel Postel, was a distinguished World War I veteran known for his exceptional discipline, courage, and determination. These enduring values shaped the foundation of his son’s character, Recognizing the dangers of a world torn by conflict, he made the pivotal decision to migrate with his son M. Postel to the United States, safeguarding his future and opening doors to newer possibilities for M. Postel. Inspired by his father’s principles, Padma Shri M. Postel carried forward this legacy, evolving into a visionary French entrepreneur with an unwavering commitment to excellence.
As a former U.S. Air Force Squadron Leader, Padma Shri M. Postel exemplified the same discipline, precision, and strategic thinking that had shaped his upbringing. He later channelled these qualities into the pharmaceutical industry, transforming a legacy of discipline and perseverance into a lasting contribution to healthcare.
He received France’s National Order of Merit in 1971 and the Padma Shri in 2016.
His enduring legacy is celebrated at the Musée Asiatica in Biarritz, France, and through the success story that is Franco-Indian Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd.

Over the years, he has been actively involved in the rescue and rehabilitation of diverse wildlife species—including sea turtles, snakes, and flamingos—ensuring their safe return to natural habitats.
